Rivanna Trails

Board member recruitment

The Rivanna Trails Foundation (RTF) is expanding our Board of Directors and seeking new members with diverse perspectives and backgrounds to join us in our mission to connect communities and people to one another and to nature. We are especially seeking candidates for the Board of Directors who can help manage and organize our growing volunteer base, lead Saturday work parties, take charge of small projects and community outreach events, and connect with land owners and developers to discuss trail planning.

RTF is a non-profit corporation founded in 1992 by Charlottesville area citizens with a dream to create a trail system throughout the greenbelt of the Rivanna River and its tributaries. We continue to build and maintain this trail network around Charlottesville and the greater Rivanna River watershed, in partnership with the City of Charlottesville, Albemarle County, and private land owners. Annually, hundreds of volunteers give their time and donations to RTF so we can make this public trail network available for nature-related recreation, environmental education, and human-powered transportation.

The RTF Board of Directors meets once per month (currently, 4pm on the first Monday of each month). Board members are typically expected to lead or co-lead one Saturday work party each year (training will be provided), held every 2nd Saturday of the month from 9am-noon. We are especially interested in colleagues who can help organize and manage independent projects outside of normal meetings.

If you are interested in joining our board, please reach out to our President Michael Holroyd (info@rivanantrails.org) for more information!
