September 25 is National Public Lands day, and in conjunction with the Rivanna River Company and Rivanna Roots concert series we're planning a series of events to celebrate the Rivanna Trail. (In addition to this walk of the Riverview Park section of the trail, we're offering a hike of the full loop, and cycling and running options. Check the event overview for details of the other options.)

• Distance: ~ 3 miles round trip. We will walk from the Rivanna River Company parking lot along the Rivanna River to the new bridge at Woolen Mills and back.
  
• Hiking time: approximately 1-2 hours. This is family-friendly walk entirely on paved trails, suitable for strollers and kids on bikes.
  
• Start: The Rivanna River Company is located on High Street just before the 250 Bypass (parking details to follow). We leave at 4:00 PM.
  
• Finish: We'll end at the Rivanna River Company by 6:00 PM, in time for the Rivanna Roots concert. As your reward for joining us, we'll cover the admission charge for the first 20 registrants! Local beer, wine, and food trucks will be on-site.
  
• What to bring: comfortable walking shoes; clothes appropriate for the weather conditions, water, snacks, personal needs.
