Approximate distance: ~ 19 miles.

Approximate hiking time: 6-½ to 8 hours. This is variable due to rest stops and hiking speeds.

We will hike around the City in counterclockwise direction, on completed sections of the Rivanna Trail, using road walks and detours where necessary. We may have some wet crossings. 

Start: Riverview Park is located at the eastern end of Chesapeake Street. We'll start promptly at 6:30 AM.

What to bring: boots or sturdy shoes; clothes appropriate for “urban wilderness” hiking and for weather conditions; stream crossing shoes and clothes; water; snacks; personal needs.

Important note: This is a strenuous hike. Be sure you build up your endurance and break in your boots before hike day.

How to participate: No cost. Just register so we’ll know to expect you.

How to hike a shorter segment: Email us, and we’ll give you an approximate schedule. Please arrange for your own transportation to and from the Trail.
